What Customers Say About Sima SSW 4 Speaker Selector (4 Speaker Pairs):

I returned this item as once it arrived I determined it would not work with my stereo system. It was my error in not looking at my system prior to ordering. However, I do believe it would have been just what I was looking for and was fairly pleased with the quality.

This product works fine. It's simple to use, inexpensive, and there's an orange bar that visually shows which speakers are on, not bad considering the unit needs no external power. It comes with plenty of labels, too.

I tried several different combinations such as splicing the high and low frequency wires together into the Sima, but everything I tried resulted in overloading either the Sima or my source stereo system. It turns out that many newer stereo systems have 2 sets of feeds (wire pairs) from their tuner/amplifiers to each of the main speakers - one feed for lower frequencies and one for higher frequencies. I bought this product in January, 2009 and it seems to work very well, but on a limited basis. I did try using the system by connecting only one feed per speaker from my stereo in the Sima and then onto my speakers, and it seemed to work very well. This is true even for systems that have a separate sub-woofer. Unfortunately, the Sima SSW 4 does not support this configuration, since it provides for only one set of input feeds (per speaker) coming from your main system. However, the limitation is that you can only play the high or low frequencies through the main speakers, depending on which feed was connected.Ultimately, I had to return this product, but I believe it works well with systems that have only a single wire pair per speaker. The bottom line is this: if your system has 4 wires coming into each speaker, I don't beleive the Sima will work for you.

I have my computer connected to a Yamaha CR-1040 amplifier. The sound is same as if direct wired, and the switch gets the job done well. With the Sima I drive four sets of speakers, but have no need to use more than one or two sets at any given time. All of my speakers are 8 ohm, all of them can be driven hard. I can stream Sirius, Napster, or iTunes to the rooms that need it. What a concept.

The little box works great. Installation was easy, and it fits nicely on top of the receiver. The red plastic indicators that show which button is pushed leave a little to be desired (I think a rattle inside the unit is a broken-off indicator), but it's easy to see which buttons are pushed. We connected three sets of speakers, and to make things simple, we use the "protection" mode only when using more than one speaker set.
